Laser Hybrid Welding

The procedural combination of laser beam welding and an arc welding process within a single process zone. This merges the deep penetration geometry of the laser with the gap-bridging capability of the arc.

Laser-hybrid welding combines a laser beam and an arc in a single welding process. The laser provides deep, narrow penetration, while the arc fills the root and bridges larger gaps. You have to coordinate the two energy sources so they don't interfere. If the ratio is off, you get either a too flat weld or an unstable melt with spatter and lack of fusion. Make sure the laser focal point and arc position are precisely aligned, then the process runs clean and fast.
