Laser Powder Cladding Deposition
A thermal surfacing process in which metallic powder materials are melted onto a substrate using a laser beam to produce a metallurgically bonded protective layer. It minimizes thermal distortion through low heat input.
You bring the laser beam and the powder together onto the workpiece. The laser melts the powder, and it forms a solid layer on the surface. This way you can apply wear protection or repair components, for example on bores or cracks. Make sure the powder feed runs evenly and the distance to the workpiece is right. If you feed too much powder or the speed is not right, the layer becomes uneven and there are defects. Start with a clean, grease-free surface and adjust the parameters slowly until the melt pool runs calm and even.
