Laser Cutting Assist Gas Pressure
The pneumatic pressure of the process gas applied to eject the melt or drive the chemical reaction during laser cutting.
In laser beam cutting, the cutting gas blows the melt out of the kerf. The gas pressure must match the sheet thickness and material: too little pressure leaves slag and burr, too much pressure swirls the melt and worsens the cut edge. For welding, however, the cutting gas pressure is irrelevant – what matters there is the shielding gas pressure, which you set at the torch. Follow the specifications for the material and adjust the pressure so that the cut is clean and burr-free.
