Laser-TIG Hybrid Welding
The combination of a laser beam with a tungsten inert gas arc to merge the penetration depth of the laser with the precise bead shaping of the TIG process. This reduces susceptibility to cracking and porosity.
Laser-TIG hybrid welding combines the deep, focused laser beam with the stable TIG arc. The laser provides the necessary penetration depth, while the arc calms the weld surface and forms it cleanly. This gives you a narrow, deep weld with good appearance. The process reduces the risk of porosity and cracks because the processes stabilize each other. However, if you don't coordinate the parameters properly, the weld can become unstable or you get undercuts. It is important that the laser focus and the TIG torch are well positioned relative to each other. Travel the weld at a steady speed and adjust the distance between the two processes to the sheet thickness. For thin sheets, use less power; for thick ones, more.
