Laser cutting optics

Laser cutting optics is a system of lenses and mirrors that focus and direct the laser beam. It ensures the necessary power density for the vaporization process.

Physical-Chemical Mechanism

The laser cutting optics use lenses and mirrors to focus the laser beam and direct it onto the workpiece surface. This increases the beam's power density, which is needed to effectively vaporize the material.

Metallurgical Relevance & Welding Risks

Faulty laser cutting optics can lead to inaccurate focusing, which causes uneven vaporization and possible loss of material. This can damage the material and cause cracks or other damage in the workpiece.

Workshop Practice & Instructions

To keep the laser cutting optics in top shape, you need to check and maintain the lenses and mirrors regularly. The focal distance and beam alignment should be set precisely to get even vaporization. If you have problems with the optics, get a specialist involved quickly.
