Laser Beam Oscillation Head
A laser beam oscillation head deflects the laser beam transverse to the welding direction to improve gap bridging and increase weld quality.
Physical-Chemical Mechanism of Action
The laser beam oscillation head uses high-frequency deflection of the laser beam to move it across the welding direction. This prevents the accumulation of dust and contaminants on the gap surface and thus enables better bridging of gaps.
Metallurgical Relevance & Risks in Welding
Correct beam deflection improves gap bridgeability, resulting in a finer and stronger weld. Missing or inaccurate deflection can lead to porosity and reduced mechanical properties of the weld.
Workshop Practice & Instructions
Make sure the laser beam oscillation head is set correctly. The deflection frequency should be between 10 and 20 kHz. Check the cleanliness of the gap surface regularly and adjust the settings accordingly.
