Laser Beam Cutting Head

A laser cutting head focuses and directs a coherent photon beam to cut materials precisely using high energy density.

Physical-Chemical Mechanism of Action

A laser cutting head uses the coherence of a light beam to concentrate extremely high energy into a very small area. This causes thermal removal of the material at the cut point.

Metallurgical Relevance & Welding Risks

Precise focusing minimizes changes to the surrounding structure and reduces pore formation. However, a faulty focus can lead to uneven removal or excessive pressure, which can damage the workpiece.

Workshop Practice & Instructions

Make sure the laser beam is correctly aligned and focused. Use the specified power settings and constantly monitor temperature and pressure at the cut point.
