Ring-Mode Laser Beam Keyhole Welding
Deep penetration welding with ring mode uses a modified laser intensity to achieve spatter-free welds on highly reflective materials.
Physical-Chemical Mechanism of Action
The laser beam is modulated from a Gaussian to a ring shape. This stabilizes the keyhole and improves weld quality.
Metallurgical Relevance & Welding Risks
This technique prevents spatter and increases weld accuracy. Wrong parameters, however, can lead to uneven distortion or a high risk of hot cracking.
Workshop Practice & Instructions
Use a laser power of 1000 W and a ring mode with a diameter of 2 mm. Cool the weld slowly to stabilize the structure.
