Laser Beam Welding (LBW)

A high-energy-density welding process utilizing a focused laser beam to achieve rapid melting with minimal thermal distortion.

Laser beam welding is a fine thing, but you have to work clean. The focus has to be right and the shielding gas has to flow properly over the seam, otherwise you'll get impurities or pores in the weld. Because the heat is so concentrated, the heat-affected zone is small, but that also means: if you're too fast or the distance isn't right, the seam will be hard and brittle. Make sure the edges are clean and free of grease, then it'll be fine.
