Laser Triangulation Seam Sensor
A laser triangulation seam sensor measures joint position using the light-section method and enables precise online correction in the weld joint.
Physical-Chemical Working Principle
The sensor uses a laser beam to project a line onto the weld seam. The reflection is captured by a detector, and the deviation of the beam is measured. This allows real-time determination of the joint position.
Metallurgical Relevance & Welding Risks
Precise measurement of the joint position helps reduce cracks and distortion, as automatic corrections can be made. However, a faulty sensor can deliver incorrect data, leading to further errors in the welding process.
Workshop Practice & Action Instructions
Use the sensor near the weld pool and ensure the light source and detector are clearly visible. Calibrate the sensor regularly and continuously check the measurement data for accuracy.
