Arc Blow Effect

Arc deflection caused by asymmetric magnetic fields leads to uncontrolled heat distribution, resulting in cracks and unevenness.

Physical-Chemical Mechanism of Action

Arc blow occurs when asymmetrical magnetic fields distort the arc. This changes the heat distribution and leads to uneven cooling.

Metallurgical Relevance & Welding Risks

Uneven cooling can lead to cracks, irregularities, and loss of mechanical properties. The microstructure becomes non-homogeneous and loses its toughness.

Workshop Practice & Instructions

To minimize the effect, pay attention to symmetrical magnetization of the welding cable and workpieces. Use even voltage and controlled cooling routines.
