Arc Inherence
Arc tenacity is the property of the arc to spontaneously align to zones of lowest electrical resistance and highest ionization. This improves weld quality through optimized energy distribution.
Physical-chemical mechanism of action
Arc inherentity describes how the arc in a welding process automatically aligns with zones of lowest electrical resistance and maximum ionization. This happens because of the nature of the plasma created in arc welding, which increases its electrical conductivity.
Metallurgical relevance & risks in welding
Inherentity improves weld quality by enabling an even energy distribution. This leads to optimal heating of the workpiece and prevents uneven distortion or hard spots. Without inherentity, uneven weld gaps, porosity, or incomplete fusion can occur.
Workshop practice & instructions
To make the most of arc inherentity, it's important to set the arc correctly and protect the plasma well. This can be achieved with proper voltage, a suitable shielding gas, and an optimal distance between the arc and the workpiece. Regular equipment maintenance and following the manufacturer's instructions are crucial.
