Arc Short-Circuit
The direct contact of the molten droplet with the weld pool during GMAW, leading to a brief voltage drop. The targeted control of this effect is essential for low-spatter material transfer.
MAG welding is normal metal active gas welding, not "magnetic medicine gas". In short-circuit transfer, the wire drips periodically and briefly touches the weld pool – that's normal material transfer, not a fault. If droplet transfer becomes erratic or there's too much spatter, it's usually due to wrong voltage, wire feed speed, or gas flow. Set the machine according to the manufacturer's specs for the material and aim for a calm, steady arc. The rest is practice – a clean weld comes from clean wire feed and a steady hand.
