Arc Acoustic Analysis
Arc sound analysis monitors process stability through acoustic emissions from the arc. Frequency deviations signal process faults early.
Physicochemical Mechanism of Action
Arc sound analysis measures the sound emissions during welding. These sound waves are caused by electrons hitting atoms in the arc gap and can have different frequencies depending on process conditions.
Metallurgical Significance & Welding Risks
Deviations in the sound frequency spectrum can indicate process faults. For example, too high a frequency might point to too high voltage water or excessive spatter, while too low a frequency might suggest gas flow problems. These early warnings help keep the process stable and catch potential cracks or defects before they happen.
Workshop Practice & Instructions
To use arc sound analysis effectively, measure the sound continuously. A frequency range of 10 kHz to 50 kHz is typical for analysis. If you see deviations, check and adjust process parameters like voltage water, gas flow, and spatter. Also calibrate the sound measuring device regularly to make sure readings are correct.
