Arc Voltage Monitoring
Sensory acquisition of the electrical arc voltage to determine the current torch-to-workpiece distance. This prevents defects caused by unforeseen component distortions.
The arc voltage depends directly on the distance between the torch and the workpiece. If you increase the distance, the voltage rises; if you get closer, it drops. So you can use this as an indicator for your torch guidance.
If you don't keep the distance clean, you'll have problems with penetration depth. If you're too far away, the material won't melt through properly and you risk lack of fusion. If you're too close, the heat gets too concentrated and you can deform the workpiece or burn through.
So move calmly and evenly and adjust the speed to the weld pool. If you notice the voltage fluctuating strongly, your hand isn't steady enough – then better pull yourself together and focus on constant guidance.
