Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing
A generative manufacturing process utilizing an electric arc as a heat source and metal wire as feedstock to fabricate near-net-shape metal structures with high deposition rates.
The arc melts the wire and deposits it onto the workpiece. The material bonds with the surface, forming a layer. It's important that the heat is right – too hot and you'll distort the part, too cold and the layer won't hold. Regulate the wire feed and movement so the layer is even. Watch the weld pool and adjust parameters if it's not running clean.
