Rutylated Manual Metal Arc Welding
A manual welding process utilizing coated stick electrodes with a high titanium dioxide content in the flux covering. It provides stable ignition behavior and a finely rippled, smooth weld surface.
Rutile electrodes ignite softly and run smoothly, the slag comes off easily and the weld becomes smooth. They are ideal for visible welds and thin sheets because the arc remains stable. It's important to store the electrode dry and not to overheat it, otherwise the coating burns and you get pores in the weld. Clean material and not too much heat – then it'll be fine.
