Brazing Flux

Soldering flux dissolves oxides and wets the solder to ensure a fluid joint. Without it, porosity and poor solder quality occur.

Physicochemical Mechanism of Action

Fluxes are chemical additives that dissolve oxides in the metal and keep the solder flowing. They lower the surface tension so the solder spreads better over the parts being joined.

Metallurgical Relevance & Welding Risks

Without flux, oxide forms on the metal surface and stops the solder from wetting it properly. That leads to pores, poor joint quality and low joint strength.

Workshop Practice & Instructions

Always use the right flux for the metal in question. Make sure there is enough of it. If it is missing or too little, you get joint problems and poor soldering results.
