Solder Preform Placement

Brazing filler deposit preplacement is the positioning of preformed brazing filler rings or foils in the joint area to ensure accurate dosing.

Physical-Chemical Mechanism of Action

Preplacing the solder deposit ensures the solder materials are positioned in the joint area before the steel is heated. This prevents the solder from shifting or being lost during welding processes, which could lead to incomplete dosing.

Metallurgical Relevance & Risks During Welding

Faulty solder deposit preplacement can cause inaccurate solder distribution and thus insufficient weld strength. This increases the risk of cracks or distortion in the weld.

Workshop Practice & Action Instructions

Make sure the solder is placed exactly in the joint area before heating the steel. Use preformed solder rings or foils for precise dosing, and ensure even distribution of the solder.
