Lux meter

A lux meter measures illumination in lux (lx). It ensures that sufficient light is available for visual inspection and defect detection.

Physical-Chemical Mechanism of Action

A lux meter measures the intensity of the electric field of photons in a specific wavelength. There is a direct relationship between light intensity and the number of photons per unit area per second.

Metallurgical Relevance & Welding Risks

Missing or insufficient lighting can lead to visibility issues, making it harder to detect defects and cracks. This can result in safety hazards and quality problems in the welding process.

Workshop Practice & Instructions

Ensure that the lighting in the welding zone is at least 500 lux. If necessary, use special protective glass or screens to shield the light and protect the eyes from overexposure.
