Magnetic Pulse Welding
A contactless solid-state welding process where sudden electromagnetic fields exert enormous kinetic forces onto the joining component. This creates a high-strength metallic bond via cold welding.
Magnetic particle inspection is a non-destructive testing method to find near-surface cracks in ferromagnetic materials. You magnetize the part and then sprinkle fine iron powder over it. Where there is a crack, the powder collects and forms a visible indication. The test only works on magnetizable materials, so not on aluminum or stainless steel. It's important that the surface is clean and dry, otherwise you'll smear the indication.
