Magnetic Arc Butt Welding

A pressure welding process where an electric arc is rotated along the abutting edges of pipes or rings by a magnetic field. Upsetting under pressure occurs once the welding temperature is reached.

The arc generates the heat to melt the edges. The magnetic field keeps the arc stable and heats the weld evenly. Then the weld is forged under pressure so the metal joins cleanly. If you have too much heat or too little pressure, the weld becomes porous or doesn't hold properly. Keep the edges clean and make sure the arc is steady, then it'll be fine.
