Magnetic Field Probe

A magnetic field probe measures local magnetic flux densities and leakage fields to quantitatively capture magnetization states. It is used in magnetic testing.

Physical-Chemical Mechanism of Action

The magnetic-field probe contains a magnetic sensor that measures the local magnetic flux density and stray field. The sensor reacts to changing magnetic fields and outputs corresponding signals.

Metallurgical Relevance & Welding Risks

In magnetic testing, the probe is used to ensure that there is no magnetic contamination or changes in the magnetic properties of the steel. Incorrect measurements can lead to missed defects and endanger the safety of components.

Workshop Practice & Instructions

Use the magnetic-field probe in a quiet environment, as stray fields can affect measurement accuracy. Always hold the probe perpendicular to the surface and move it slowly over the area to be tested. The measurement should be repeated at least 3 times to obtain accurate results.
