Magnetizing Current Amplitude

Magnetizing current is the current through a coil that strengthens the magnetic field. It determines the hardness of a magnetic material.

Magnetism in the workpiece is a classic problem when welding. The magnetic field deflects the arc, which is called arc blow. The result is an unclean weld and spatter. If the part is magnetic, you can often treat it with a demagnetizer. Alternatively, changing the ground connection or welding with DC can help. It's important to keep the arc short and prepare the joint cleanly, then it'll work out.
