Lack of Root Penetration

Incomplete root fusion leads to incomplete penetration at the back of the part, reducing load-carrying capacity.

Physical-Chemical Mechanism of Action

The weld doesn't fully penetrate, especially at the edge of the part. This can be caused by insufficient energy input or too short welding time.

Metallurgical Relevance & Welding Risks

Incomplete penetration leads to weak spots in the weld that can crack under load. This can cause part failure and safety issues.

Workshop Practice & Action Guidelines

Make sure welding energy is sufficient and welding time is long enough to penetrate the whole weld cross-section. Regularly check welds for full penetration and adjust welding parameters as needed.
