Metallic Inclusion

Metallic inclusion: foreign metals such as tungsten in the weld that remain unmelted and act as defects.

Physical-Chemical Mechanism of Action

Foreign metals such as tungsten particles from the electrode may not fully melt during welding. They remain in the weld as unmelted inclusions, preventing full fusion with the base metal.

Metallurgical Relevance & Risks in Welding

Metallic inclusions cause defects in the weld that impair mechanical strength. They can lead to cracks and distortion, especially under load, reducing the component's service life.

Workshop Practice & Action Guidelines

Use higher-purity welding materials and check the electrode regularly for wear. Keep the melting temperature consistent and avoid overly rapid cooling to minimize inclusions.
