Short-Circuit Metal Active Gas Welding

A MAG welding process operating at low arc voltage where filler metal is transferred via periodic droplet short-circuiting into the weld pool. This technique is particularly suitable for joining thin sheets and positional welding.

In short-arc welding, the wire is transferred into the weld pool by a mechanical short circuit. That means the droplet touches the pool, and the material flows over without a long arc. This gives you a calm, controlled deposition—ideal for thin sheets and positional welding. Be careful not to run too hot. If the droplet transfers too quickly or uncontrollably, the pool becomes restless, and you risk porosity or an unclean seam. Keep the arc short and let the droplet break off cleanly, then the seam will be neat.
