Metal Active Gas Welding with Metal Cored Wire
A MAG process utilizing tubular filler materials filled with metal powder to enable high deposition rates. The core filling stabilizes the arc and optimizes weld penetration.
Metal cored wire is basically a tube filled with metal powder inside. The powder gives you higher deposition rates and a smoother arc than solid wire. If you pick the wrong wire or the settings aren't right, the weld pool gets restless and the bead can end up with porosity or lack of fusion. So make sure the wire matches the base material and your machine is properly set. For high deposition rates, this is the right tool, but you need to develop a feel for the right wire feed speed and voltage. The exact values depend on the material, so only test welding helps.
