Metallic material transfer

The physical process of droplet transport from the melting filler material through the electric arc into the liquid weld pool.

When welding, you must dip the filler material specifically into the molten pool, not just hold it in the arc. The droplet transfer must be clean and controlled, otherwise you'll get porosity or lack of fusion in the weld. Make sure the pool doesn't get too cold and the wire doesn't break off – then the transfer becomes erratic and you risk hot cracking. Feed the filler evenly so everything mixes well and the weld becomes tight.
