Metal Spraying

A thermal spraying process used to deposit metallic coatings, typically of zinc or aluminum, as active corrosion protection on components. The coating provides both barrier action and cathodic protection.

Metalizing is basically a spray process, not a diffusion process. You apply the material as fine droplets onto the part, where it adheres mechanically and forms a layer. That has little to do with welding in the strict sense, but is rather thermal spraying. The substrate must be clean and roughened for the sprayed layer to hold. If you don't have the parameters under control, you'll get pores or the layer will peel off. Stick to the specifications for the spray material and equipment settings, then it'll be fine.
