MIG Welding Process
MIG uses a consumable wire and inert shielding gas to protect the weld. It's suitable for non-ferrous metals and high-alloy steels.
Physical-Chemical Effect Mechanism
MIG welding uses a continuously fed consumable wire that is welded under a shielding gas (often CO2 or argon). This prevents the metal from reacting with air and oxygen, which could cause porosity and weak points.
Metallurgical Relevance & Welding Risks
Wrong gas flow or too high voltage can cause uneven distortion and porosity. Too low temperature can lead to incomplete melting of the wire and poor fusion.
Workshop Practice & Action Instructions
Always use the correct shielding gas for the metal. Set the voltage so the wire melts smoothly. Gas flow should be continuous and even. For high-alloy steels, ensure sufficient cooling to avoid porosity.
