End-of-Seam Detection

Weld end detection is a sensor-based method for automatically identifying the end of the joint during welding. It prevents weld defects at the weld end and stops the process automatically.

Physico-chemical mechanism of action

Weld end detection uses sensors that identify the end of the joint. These sensors can react to temperature differences or specific materials.

Metallurgical relevance & welding risks

Without proper weld end detection, over- or under-welding at the end of the joint can occur, leading to cracks or distortion. Automatic shutdown prevents these defects and improves weld quality.

Workshop practice & action instructions

Make sure the sensors are correctly calibrated and positioned for the joint design. Monitor sensor function continuously and perform regular maintenance. If detection issues arise, contact the manufacturer or a specialist.
