Nickel-base cladding layer
A protective layer of high-alloy nickel materials applied via overlay welding that shields unalloyed base materials from aggressive, corrosive media in chemical reactors.
Nickel-based claddings protect the base material by forming a dense, corrosion-resistant layer. When build-up welding, you must ensure the layer is clean and pore-free, otherwise you'll have attack points there later. If you overheat or cool the layer too quickly, it can flake off or crack. Use good nickel material and weld evenly, then the part will hold. After welding, inspect the surface carefully to make sure everything is clean and crack-free.
