Nickel-Base Superalloy Cast Structure

A primarily solidified nickel-base structure containing gamma-prime precipitates optimized for service under extreme thermal and mechanical loads.

Nickel-based superalloys in the as-cast structure get their strength from precipitates that form when alloying with aluminum, titanium, or similar elements. This stuff withstands high temperatures and is corrosion-resistant, but you have to be careful when welding. The alloy is sensitive to impurities and improper heat control – the structure can crack or warp quickly. Keep the weld area clean, work with controlled heat input, and let the part cool slowly after welding to keep the structure stable.
