Nickel-chromium alloy

A heat- and corrosion-resistant alloy offering exceptional protection against oxidation at elevated temperatures. It frequently serves as the base material for heating conductors and furnace components.

Nickel-chromium alloys are corrosion-resistant because the chromium forms a protective oxide layer. When welding, you need to watch out for hot cracking. Use a suitable filler metal and keep the interpass temperature in check so the structure stays stable. If you cool the weld too quickly, the material becomes hard and brittle, so let it cool slowly. Cleanliness is key, otherwise you'll pull contaminants into the melt.
