Nickel-Chromium Resistance Alloy

A high-resistivity solid solution material exhibiting a low electrical temperature coefficient and high scaling resistance.

Nickel-chromium resistance alloys are solid-solution materials used for heating elements and resistors. They weld well, but you've got to watch out for hot cracking – they tend to do that if you put too much heat in. Best to weld them with TIG and a matching filler that suits the alloy. Keep the weld pool clean and don't let it get too hot, or the chromium will burn off and the corrosion resistance suffers. Let it cool slowly after welding, then the structure stays stable.
