Nickel-Molybdenum Corrosion Resistance

High chemical stability of nickel-based alloys against reducing acids due to the synergistic effect of molybdenum.

Nickel-molybdenum alloys are corrosion-resistant, especially in aggressive media. When welding, you have to be careful not to overheat the alloy or introduce too much heat, otherwise precipitates form that ruin the corrosion resistance. Keep the interpass temperature low and work in a clean, dry environment. If you get the weld clean and free of contaminants, the microstructure remains stable and the weld lasts as long as the base material.
