Passivation Control Test

A non-destructive analytical method, usually based on chemical reagents, for checking the passivation quality on stainless steel. It detects remaining free iron ions on the surface.

The test shows you whether the surface is properly passivated after welding. Apply the test solution to the clean area for this. If the solution discolors or streaks, free iron ions are still on the surface – so passivation didn't work properly. In that case, you need to re-treat the area, otherwise the part will be prone to rusting. Make sure the surface is free of grease and dust beforehand, otherwise it will skew the result.
