Passivation Liquid

Passivation liquid forms a dense oxide layer on steel that prevents corrosion. It accelerates passivation and increases rust resistance.

Physical-Chemical Mechanism of Action

Passivating solutions contain chemical additives such as chromium or nitrate that trigger rapid oxidation of the steel. This forms a dense, protective oxide layer on the surface.

Metallurgical Relevance & Welding Risks

Passivation prevents pitting corrosion and increases the service life of steel parts. Missing or inadequate passivation can lead to rust formation and corrosion susceptibility.

Shop Practice & Action Guidelines

Use passivating solutions after the cleaning process. The solution should remain on the surface for at least 5 minutes before being washed off. If passivation is missing or inadequate, the service life of the steel can be drastically reduced.
