Peak Temperature Estimation

Peak temperature estimation indicates how high the temperature reaches in the weld during the welding process. If too high, the metal can become deformable and cracks can form.

Physical-Chemical Mechanism of Action

The peak temperature estimate refers to the highest temperature reached during the welding process. This temperature affects the metal by altering its chemical and mechanical properties.

Metallurgical Relevance & Welding Risks

A peak temperature that's too high can make the metal deformable (tempered martensite), which can lead to cracking. At the same time, it can hurt the toughness and strength of the material.

Workshop Practice & How-To

To ensure a safe peak temperature estimate, take these steps:

• Use a quality welding machine with correct settings.

• Keep an eye on the weld temperature constantly.

• Stick to the recommended welding parameters for the material you're using.
