Plasma Transferred Arc Welding
A high-precision surfacing process where metallic powder is metered into a constricted plasma jet to deposit metallurgically pure protective layers.
Plasma powder cladding is a surfacing process where you feed metal powder into a plasma jet. The jet melts the powder and deposits a dense, wear- or corrosion-resistant layer on the part. You have to carefully match the powder feed rate and heat input, otherwise you get either too thin a layer or the base material gets too hot and distorts. The layer turns out really good if you keep the distance and travel speed steady and uniform.
