Plasma Cutting and Welding
A thermal process utilizing a strongly constricted arc with high energy density to sever or join metallic materials. The high gas temperature induces a rapid melting process.
Plasma cutting and welding use a strongly constricted arc that gets extremely hot. This lets you cut or join metal very quickly with a narrow heat-affected zone. The part barely warps as a result. But watch out: due to rapid cooling, the material can locally harden or pick up stresses. For clean cuts, you need a stable gas supply, and the workpiece must be dry and free of grease.
