Linear Porosity

A chain-like sequence of small gas pores aligned linearly along the longitudinal direction of the weld.

Porosity lines form when gases can no longer escape the melt and align in a line during solidification. This often happens with too rapid cooling or when the weld metal is dirty or moist. This makes the weld brittle and it can crack under load. Keep the material clean and dry, and adjust the heat input so the melt solidifies calmly and evenly. Then you won't have any problems with it.
