In-Process Quality Control

The continuous verification of all manufacturing parameters and process steps during ongoing welding production.

Quality monitoring during welding is not rocket science, but it has to be consistent. You have to keep an eye on machine parameters like current, voltage, and feed speed to get a clean weld and avoid defects like cracks or lack of fusion. Pay special attention to heat input – especially with higher-strength materials, the cooling time is critical for the microstructure. If you don't monitor the parameters and the part cools too fast or too slow, you'll quickly get a hard, crack-prone weld or too soft a structure. Make sure the settings match the material and position. A sensor or automatic system can help, but you still need to understand the readouts and double-check manually if in doubt. If something looks wrong, stop immediately and check the settings before continuing to weld.
