Process Monitoring via Photodiode

A photodiode monitors the weld pool by capturing the emitted radiation and detecting defects in real time.

Physical-Chemical Mechanism of Action

The photodiode detects light or infrared radiation emitted by the weld pool. It converts this radiation into electrical signals.

Metallurgical Relevance & Risks in Welding

This monitoring helps detect defects like porosity or incomplete penetration. Missing detection can lead to poor weld quality that has to be fixed later.

Workshop Practice & Instructions

Install the photodiode near the weld pool and make sure it has a clear view of the weld zone. Regularly check sensitivity and calibrate settings for optimal defect detection.
