Powder Plasma Transferred Arc Welding

A surfacing welding process where metallic filler material in powder form is fed directly into the plasma jet. It is used to apply wear- or corrosion-resistant protective coatings.

In powder plasma welding, you melt the supplied metal powder in the plasma arc and deposit it as a layer on the component. The powder is fed into the plasma jet via a carrier gas. You have to make sure that the powder feed rate and travel speed are properly matched, otherwise you'll get an uneven or too thin layer. The powder must be dry and free of contaminants, and you should keep an eye on the process to ensure the deposit is uniform.
