Quality Requirement Standard

The quality requirement standard defines standards for welding to ensure product quality and safety. It regulates organizational aspects and processes.

Physical-Chemical Mechanism of Action

The Quality Assurance Standard (QAS) is not a direct physical or chemical rule but a collection of guidelines and requirements. It aims to ensure all welding processes are carried out under controlled conditions to achieve consistent results.

Metallurgical Relevance & Welding Risks

Inadequate application of QAS can lead to inconsistent weld quality. This can cause cracks, distortion, or a reduction in the material's mechanical properties. In extreme cases, it can pose a safety risk.

Shop Practice & Action Guidelines

To meet QAS, welding shops must:

• Use a qualified team

• Perform regular quality checks

• Maintain documentation of all processes and materials

• Offer training on proper application of the standard

• Implement a quality system that covers QAS
