Friction surfacing

A thermal deposition method where a rotating rod-shaped filler material is rubbed onto a substrate under axial force. It serves to deposit wear-resistant functional layers.

Friction surfacing is a cladding process where a rotating filler material is rubbed onto the surface under pressure. This creates a uniform, deformed layer that improves the surface. If you don't set the parameters properly, you get cracks or uneven deposition, which kills the durability of the layer. Make sure pressure, rotational speed, and heat generation are in the right relation to each other, then the part will be clean and hard.
