Recrystallization Grain Boundary Anchor
The blockage of grain boundary migration by finely dispersed, insoluble particles or carbides to prevent undesirable grain growth at high service temperatures. This ensures the thermal stability of fine-grained microstructures.
Keep grain growth small by keeping heat input low and accelerating cooling. If the structure gets too coarse, you lose toughness and strength, and the risk of cracking increases. Make sure you don't put too much heat into the part and keep the interpass temperature in check. For critical materials, it helps to arrange the welding sequence so that heat doesn't build up.
