Recrystallization Annealing of Cold Strip
Thermal treatment to reverse hardening from cold rolling processes through nucleation and grain growth.
Cold-worked material is soft-annealed during recrystallization annealing so that it can be formed or welded again. New, low-stress grains form in the structure. The part must be slowly and evenly brought to the correct annealing temperature, which depends on the material. If you anneal too hot or too long, the grain grows and the material becomes brittle. Make sure that the surface does not scale during annealing, otherwise you will have trouble welding afterwards.
